Note: The below article includes examples of censorship by Twitter. However, things have significantly improved on this platform since its acquisition by Elon Musk.
We all know how big technological companies (Big Tech) violate our privacy every day (read our Big Tech Privacy article for more). However, snooping on you and selling your information is not the worst part. The worst part is how those tech giants and governments are using their power to shape public opinion by depriving people their basic rights and silencing voices they do not like. They weaponize terms like “misinformation”, “fact checking” or “hate speech” to show you only what they want you to see – and remove everything else. The Coronavirus pandemic was the epitome of that, when anyone daring to have an opinion dissenting from the official “truth” they wanted to promote was banned or cancelled. One example was Google, Reddit and other media censoring and smearing the Great Barrington Declaration – which was created and signed by many renowned scientists, who questioned the governments’ responses to the pandemic [source 1, source 2, source 3, source 4]. But there were many more cases of suppressing opinions and information that later turned out to be correct – see here and here for more examples. And if you are still not convinced – even Mark Zuckerberg openly admitted that Facebook and Instagram censored true information [source].
Governments of course eagerly joined in and often arrested people trying to peacefully raise their concerns [source 1, source 2], or investigated whistleblowers challenging their narrative [source 1, source 2], while violent protests “for equality” were not only allowed, but even supported – and considered “peaceful” by the media [source 1, source 2].
But the pandemic was just the tip of the iceberg of censorship (read “2020 year in review”). Of course everyone has heard of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram banning president Donald Trump from their platforms for political reasons [source], but things like this happen every day to far less powerful people:
- YouTube Mass-Censors Conservatives, New Right, Classical Liberals [source]
- Twitter Suspends Account of Free-Speech Competitor Gab [source]
- PayPal Bans “The Free Speech Union” And Its Founder Toby Young [source]
- Google Fires Employee Who Wrote Memo Critiquing Company’s Leftist Monopoly [source 1, source 2, source 3]
- Twitter Bans Reporter Who Interviewed Female Swimmers Speaking Out About Competing Against Transgender Woman [source]
- Facebook Censors Conservative PragerU Videos And Shadow Bans Posts [source 1, source 2]
- Visa And Mastercard Block Payments To The “David Horowitz Freedom Center” Think Tank [source]
- Twitter Suspends Charlie Kirk for Calling Biological Male Rachel Levine a “Man” [source]
- YouTube Permanently Bans Major Pro-Life News Site [source]
- Twitter Suspends users criticizing Islam [source 1, source 2]
- Google’s Social Justice Warriors Create Wrongthink Blacklists [source]
- Twitter Suspends Kayleigh McEnany’s Personal Account for Sharing Hunter Biden Emails [source]
- History teacher’s videos were banned from YouTube over footage of Nazi Germany [source]
- Twitter Suspends Rapper for Saying “Ok Dude” to Transgender [source]
- GoFundMe deletes fundraising campaign for British lockdown skeptic [source]
- James Woods Starts Tweeting Officers Killed In The Line Of Duty. Twitter Locks His Account [source]
- Twitter censored Oxford professor who shared article about inflated Covid deaths [source]
- Stripe, PayPal, Patreon, Kickstarter, GoFundMe And Others Ban Conservatives From Their Platforms [source]
Regular people like you and I are losing access to their email, social media and payment options (like PayPal) every day. Imagine not being able to send or receive money because you expressed an opinion someone did not like.
At the same time, popular websites like Wikipedia and online dictionaries are changing their articles to push the approved narrative by changing the language, and therefore, perception:
- Wikipedia Pushes “Black Lives Matter” Agenda Following Activist Campaign [source]
- Merriam-Webster Changes Definition Of “Racism” After 22-Year-Old Woman’s Complaint [source] – to include the “systemic racism” conspiracy theory
- Wikipedia Editors Label ICE Detention Centers “Concentration Camps” [source]
- The Associated Press Stylebook Bans Use Of The Term “Mistress” [source]
- Wikipedia Co-Founder Claims Site Is Leftist Propaganda [source]
- Merriam-Webster dictionary declared the term “preference” as “offensive” [source]
Also, anyone with a view differing from the accepted narrative is branded a bigot and shamed with one of the usual slurs weaponized to make sure you will never think or say anything they don’t like. You dared to criticize Black Lives Matter? You are a white-supremacist. Don’t agree with a feminist? You are a misogynist. Think transgenders should not be allowed in women’s sports or prisons? Transphobe.
All this while supporters of openly Marxist, anti-white, terrorist organizations like Antifa [source 1, source 2] and Black Lives Matter (BLM) [source 1, source 2, source 3] are not only not banned [source 1, source 2, source 3], but even have their social media accounts positively verified [source].
This is how the public opinion is shaped. This is social engineering. This is no different from the Communist or Nazi propaganda. And we all know where this leads. This is why we need to stop using Big Tech product and protect your freedoms. Please read “Delete Big Tech” to learn how.
